I'm off to Atlanta tomorrow to help Keith out on his latest video shoot. I'll try and make time for a post or two while during. Typically I spend a fair amount of time with each of the models in the car getting them to the hotel, airport and set at the right times and I love to find out a bit about them. Many have regular 9-5 jobs. Some are budding porn stars. Some have long made their living in the industry. It's interesting too to see how personalities mix prior to getting on the set. That is, interesting to see who clicks, or doesn't, with who and if it's evident in the finished scenes.

When I met Chase on one of our video shoots his boyfriend was porn star Brent Everett (porn fans probably know Brent.) They made a very cute couple but for all the hoopla over Brent Everett's porn career, Chase was the real head-turner of the two. He's physically perfect, even those who don't care for redheads would be wowed. And his quiet manner added greatly to his appeal. Also new today is the latest Old Dirty Movie Review. This month it's Boys in the Sand.

I am highly recommending Boys in the Sand, not as something to get your rocks off to, but as something to watch and ponder. Take some time to appreciate that thirty-seven years ago the cast and crew of this little epic put a lot on the line to get their product out there -- add to that the major cojones of Poole and company to not only advertise Boys in the Sand in the New York Times but to hold it’s first major screening in downtown Manhattan where it was going to be seen by a predominantly straight audience. And then keep in mind that this movie was celebrated by the mainstream press...all of this in 1971!

And last, at long last, we have a new column from Doug, The Pleasure Activist. Seems recent columns were a victim of SPAM/email troubles but Doug and I finally connected and I got my hands on his new columns. First up is a report from his travels to Cologne, Germany.

Something hot to take in is the KitKatClub, which is a mixed, kinky fetish party for dancing and playing. It’s mostly straight with about 10-20% gay crowd. It has a strict dress code of fetish, bizarre, and fantasy. To avoid single men outnumbering couples the door policy often rejects single men but two men can come as a couple. I really got off on watching the straight guys. If you are a voyeur this is a hot place.

Cologne has some interesting saunas. The sauna Badehaus am Römerturm blew me away, it was so nice, perhaps the most beautiful gay sauna I’ve ever visited. It’s famous for its pool in the beautiful inner courtyard. Sunday afternoons from 3 to 7 pm had been legendary with guys from Belgium, France, Netherlands and other countries travelling just for this sauna. It is pricey at 19 Euros entry (14 Euros for under 28). The Phoenix is the newest and biggest sauna in Cologne. It’s popular with younger guys. The Vulcano is the oldest gay sauna in Cologne and is popular with mature men and their admirers.
